A short 5 minute walk from the town centre of Paleochora, and 10 minutes to the beaches, is the Arkalakis family business of Haris Studios, run by Haris, Katerina & Yiorgos .

Situated on the sea front with views across the bay we offer a tranquil place for your holiday where we welcome families, couples and individuals of all ages, many of whom return each year to enjoy the simple charm of a holiday in this delightful location.

You will find us in the ‘old town’, known locally as Gavdiotika, named after the many settlers who came here early last century from the island of Gavdos to make a new life and build their homes. Many of those single storey stone houses looked out to their birthplace and a few of them remain. It’s easy to see why they would want to settle on this rocky shoreline – the mystical island of Gavdos reveals itself when weather conditions permit, a view that can be enjoyed from the first floor balconies or ground floor terraces at Haris Studios

Eight of our nine units offer a sea view from the balcony or terrace, all of which have table, chairs and sun umbrella.

Many hours can be spent here :

watching the ferries and fishing boats
seeing the flash of blue-green from the darting kingfishers
laughing at the local cats as they foolishly try to catch fish in the rock pools (will they never learn??)
hoping for an occasional sighting of dolphins (it happens….)
making new dreams as the fiery red, full moon slips up out of the sea
wondering if you should have another ouzo…..(of course you should!)

The sea across from the rooms (all of 6 metres away) is great for a quick dip or snorkelling fun if you’re nimble footed to clamber across the rocks.

Accommodation

All the studios and apartments at Haris Studios have a small kitchen with 2 ring hot plate & refrigerator, dining area, toilet /shower, hair dryer, air-conditioning, flat screen tv, wi-fi. In addition there are washing machines for hire, a book corner, swimming pool, garden and roof terrace at our other building – Studios Yiorgos..

We have a selection of twin, double and family accommodation:

A studio is one-room-with-everything plus the toilet/shower and sleeps 2, some studios are large enough for a baby bed or pull out bed to be added. There are 5 sea facing studios and 1 double bed studio with no sea view – it has a small balcony with afternoon sun.

An apartment has one bedroom and another room with kitchen, dining and a single sofa bed, the apartment sleeps 3, or 4, if another fold out bed is added – suitable for smaller children.

A baby bed is available but best to let us know in advance.

All bed linen and towels are provided, as are blankets and quilts for the cooler times of year. During summer season rooms are cleaned daily except for Sundays.

Our café – Meltemi café – is adjacent and we’re happy to provide room service when requested. A simple breakfast (Fresh Orange Juice, Tea/Coffee, Boiled Egg, Toast, Butter and Marmalade) can be added to the cost of your accommodation, 4.50€ per person. If you prefer to have a selection of different breakfast items during your holiday take a look at the Water’s Edge Cafe page for an idea of what’s on offer, no need to book in advance, we are there every day…and all day – no time limit on when breakfast is available!

Parking is on street, free and wherever you find a space.
